A 150-year weaving legacy

Starting out as a small linen manufacturer, then expanding into jute production in the 19th century as part of Dundee’s Jute, Jam and Journalism heritage, Wilkie’s Scotland sites have specialised in weaving since the very beginning.

We have carried that legacy into today, becoming one of the first UK companies to pioneer synthetic weaving. We also introduced air-jet and water-jet technologies, expanding into new lightweight technical markets.

Welcoming Wilkie Dundee

In 2025, Wilkie embarked on a bold new chapter by announcing plans to relocate its operations from Kirriemuir to Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) in Dundee. This planned move represents a significant step in the company’s long-term growth and innovation strategy.

Once completed, the relocation to MSIP will provide Wilkie with an unparalleled opportunity to expand and innovate. Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc offers state-of-the-art facilities, access to a larger workforce, and cutting-edge renewable energy infrastructure, supporting Wilkie’s ambition to lead in sustainable advanced textile manufacturing.
